Nightfall Preview Characters
Has anyone heard or read anything about the status of characters that were created during the preview?
The event info from guildwars.com said
Quote:
The Nightfall World Preview Event will begin September 22 at 12:01 a.m. PDT and run until 11:59 p.m. PDT on September 24. At the end of the event, all Nightfall characters that players have created and all Nightfall items they've acquired will be removed from participating accounts, and the Nightfall content will be removed from the live servers. So, don't miss out!
|
But the characters weren't deleted from accounts. Mine still shows the level and where the character currently is and just says it can't be played because the account doesn't have access to Guild Wars Nightfall.
The reason I ask is that I have 2 accounts and was planning to get CE for one of them and the regular on the other. I created a Nightfall character on my secondary account because it had a spare slot and I was planning on putting CE on that account since I made it to level 18 and finished the preview. BUT if I have to start all over I'd rather have CE on my primary account.
Hopefully this makes sense

iirc someone said somewhere that all characters will be reset to lvl 1, starter armor, starter weapons, inventory cleared, skills "forgoten" (the char has to learn them again, they are still unlocked for pvp though)

True, all you keep from that character is the name. You essentially just reserved the name since the rest is reset. Of course, as Gaile stated, you can delete the character and keep the name as long as you create a new character with that name within an hour.

You should also keep any unlocks you had for PvP use. Other than that, Bravesoul and greendc27 are correct: characters will be reset to lvl 1 with no inventory, skills, or equipped items and starter armor.

They have already been reset to lvl1, this much should be visible when you click on the character in the login screen... what I'm concerned about is that whether the sunspear rank etc. will be nullified... probably will but hey, one can always hope

It will be reset once you log into it again. Items on it will be deleted and skills will be lost.
Don't get your hopes up.

Don't be silly. Everyone will be reset, everyone will start at the same level. Unless you bring a Level 20 from another character.

Mines still at Level 17 on the login screen, but as A-net pointed out in the notes relating to the Preview if anyone took the time to read through it, these were actually BETA Characters, I'm not worried if it goes back which I'm expecting it to as I'll be bringing my Tyrian Necro over first anyway, and besides it didnt exactly take long to get Levelled up but I'm sure that was only done for the Preview, same as the Sunspear Points could be farmed by being able to warp into a higher level outpost through the "open" closed portal

I'm no expert on Australia's time zone, but if it's a world-wide simultaneous start, then it won't be going live around midnight your time. The servers are going live at midnight on the Pacific coast of the U.S., which is quite a bit different than Australian time.

During this preview event, any new characters you create in the nation of Elona are temporary and will be reset prior to the release of Guild Wars Nightfall. These beta characters cannot travel outside of Elona, cannot access account storage, and cannot sell items to traders.

(Sep 22nd notes)
They will be reset just like the Factions preview characters. If they were going to be deleted, they'd have done it by now.

The will reset when the game is released. The same thing happened with the initial release of GW. I am going to take the opportunity to give my char a different hair color. Brown is just so bleh.
